Each day, we face the mysteries and the possibilities of our human existence.  A good worship service confronts those same realities, providing a vocabulary and a living example for how to respond to our human condition:  lament, celebrate, receive and carry forth.  Worship both reflects and shapes our lives.

Worship at its best connects with our whole being: head, heart and spirit.  It evokes our deepest feelings and places them in the context of our highest ideals.  It engages our curiosity and our compassion, our intellect and our emotion.  By combining music and art, movement, silence and the spoken word, worship connects us with each other and with that which we consider holy.

As the centerpiece of our gathered community, worship demonstrates who we are and how we wish to be in the world.  It is therefore important to include our children in our services, at least periodically.  It is also important to include lay voices in each service, from the pulpit and in the pews.  Worship is a place for beauty to blossom in the world, visually, musically and spiritually.

“Thank you for the small miracles you have fostered in my life through your sermons.  Each one is a gift.  Each one sparks joy in me.”
–Stephanie, CCUU
